it's all about the hunt!

this was a non-stop easter weekend.  friday night after work, maddie and i dyed eggs and i tried my hand at making cake pops.  i had been wanting to make them for a few years now, but i knew they would be a lot of work and the only reason to attempt them would be a party of some sort.  this saturday all the moms in our neighborhood planned an egg hunt for the kids, and i thought that would be a perfect opportunity.  cut to 1am and i am now hating these cake pops.  it wasn't that it was hard, it was just very tedious and after making the cake and rolling 45 balls and waiting for them to firm up in the freezer and then having to roll them in melted chocolate and then trying to decorate them to look like chicks.  uuuuugggghhhhh!!!!  needless to say i threw about half of them away.  i ran out of chocolate and decided not to finish.  wow! don't know how bakerella does it. 

so next, was saturday and we had the dads hide the eggs in our neighborhood park.  and i have to say i just love that my husband gets so into it.  ever since maddie started hunting eggs, he secretly loves to hide the eggs in interesting places.  he actually told me once after i had hidden some eggs, that i chose boring and too obvious of places.  so now every year he does it.  he is such a kid at heart.  and this year was no exception he actually taped them to the monkey bars.  and when i asked him later how he came up with that, he just said he needed to find a way to get them up there because that was maddie's favorite thing to do.  i love, love, love that sweet man.  maddie and reese are lucky kids to have such a fabulous dad!  after the hunt i had planned some egg relay races for the kids and an egg toss.  we had pizza in the park and ended up hanging out all day.  it was super fun.

he wanted no part of the hunt.  he was just content to play on the equipment.

and finally it was off to grandma's house for our annual sunday brunch and another egg hunt.  we had great food and fun conversation.  reese even got in on the hunt a bit.  phew! what a whirlwind weekend.

check out our crazy 2-year-old.  he won't even just sit in our arms long enough to take a picture, he is trying to squirm away. maybe i can send one to ellen's funny family photos and get on tv.
