mommy's day

sunday was a great day.  maddie and daddy made pancakes with strawberries and whipped cream for my mommy breakfast.  then it was off to my brother's house for a "linner" (lunch/dinner).  adam and melissa made a great meal for my mom & me, and i didn't have to do a thing, heaven.  i had a long talk with my kindergartners on friday about how to treat their moms on mother's day, which included no complaining, crying, whining, or yelling.  i told them that if they felt like that was going to happen to go to their room.  i also told them to help mom out by picking up their dishes or their room.  i'm anxious to see how they did... but in the mean time on saturday night i told madeline that the best present she could give me was the same thing.  so that morning at breakfast she said, "look mom, i'm not complaining today."  love that kid. 

also love my mom, who has done so much for me and taught me how to be a good and kind person.  she has taught me about being a strong, independent woman.  not only was she the best mom to have growing up, but i treasure the relationship she has with my kids.  for the last few thursdays {my mom's day to watch the kids} maddie has squealed with joy after remembering that grandma was coming over.  she absolutely loves it because my mom really plays all of the imaginative play {house, school} that maddie gets so into.  to be honest i can't even really play like that with her.  so she has a special bond with my mom.  that is one thing i really wanted for my kids, to be close with their grandparents, because neither jason or myself really knew ours well.  thanks mom!  we love you.
