how aaaarrrrrgh you 5 already?

truly hard to believe my lil' man is 5 years old.  you are becoming so much more mature. i am starting to be able to let go of your hand in public and you won't run from us. you are a little ham around people you feel comfortable with. you joke around and answer sarcastically to make us laugh. you are so sensitive. you cry when maddie is upset because you don't want her to be sad. you love to sing. every day you sing songs just walking around the house. songs from you-tube videos about colors and monkeys jumpin' on the bed; songs from preschool; and in the car songs from the radio. you also love to run, jump, ride bikes & scooters, and climb trees.  your favorite indoor activities are reading books, doing puzzles, and following your sister around. you are a blessing to us and life would not be the same without you.

when i asked if you wanted to do something for your birthday you said no at first. then after saying we could have a party in the park you said, "yes, i want cupcakes and to open presents." so we threw a small neighborhood party in the park for you with a pirate theme.
{favors}

{pin the eye patch on the pirate.}

{our gift to you was your first 2-wheel bike.}

{some of the kids created this message for you.
you are very loved in the neighborhood.}

{on your actual b-day preschool made you a crown.}
{and we had to go to dinner for a special birthday treat.}

the month before your birthday involved a lot of growing up. we were told you had a cavity in the center of your 2 front teeth. well, with 1 tooth gray due to a fall you took to the face around 2 years old, and your severe anxiety around the dentist (you began crying this time and would not let them clean your teeth) he referred you to a pediatric dentist. this dentist recommended we pull the gray tooth for fear of infection because the root was dead and then he would fill the cavity on the other tooth. so now you are turning 5 missing your front tooth and you continue asking me when the big boy tooth will come. you had a first visit from the tooth fairy and you were terrified about this little fairy creature coming into your room at night, so we hung your pillow on the door outside. and in the morning all was well. you are for sure a big boy now and i am missing my baby, but i'm happy to watch you grow into an amazing lil' man.
