schoooooool's out for summer!

it was a busy last 2 weeks at the kids' schools. after finishing her birthday party, i wanted to make end-of-the-year teacher gifts for all of the teachers in our lives.  i think these turned out pretty cute.  i found them on pinterest.

meanwhile i had to pack for our first vacation of summer  (more on that to come),  find a dress for both of our 20 year reunions this summer, figure out what to do for father's day, and the list goes on.  but, i did want to make maddie's last day of school special so...

i put crepe paper across her door (again seen on pinterest) to have her break through it as if she finished the race, the "2nd grade marathon".  she thought it was so silly, but gave her a big morning smile.  then off to celebratory donuts with a great friend before school.  and when she came home this is what was waiting for her.

unfortunately, she was not as happy as the picture on pinterest showed.  she had begun crying on the ride home because she was sad not to be with her teacher of 2 years anymore.  thank goodness she perked up at the 2 end-of-the-year parties we were lucky to be invited to.  and then just like that we were done and off on our palm springs week vaca.  (so happy that i am actually using my pins from pinterest!)
