but she's not a showgirl... she is our new adorable, happy, friendly, loveable frenchie. she gives sweet kisses to everyone she meets. she doesn't bark. she even lets reese pull toys out of her mouth like a tug-o-war just so he can throw them down the hallway to see her fetch them, when all she really wants to do is lay down and chew on them. she loves going for walks on the leash. and after a few nights with minimal whining she already loves her crate. her only downfall right now is potty training, but that is to be expected.

to share her story, i have to be honest. i did not want a dog. i have had them my entire life and i know how much work and chaos they can create in a household. don't get me wrong, i love dogs and i know how much joy they can bring to a household, but i just really wanted to wait a few more years for reese to not be so needy {toddler}. jason began asking for one "for maddie" around the time reese was born. so i held him off for a good 2 years. but this little lady sort of fell in our lap.
since i didn't really want a dog at this time, i told jason that if we got one, i wanted the breed i had been pining after for the last 10 years...a french bulldog. he agreed that i could have whatever i wanted as long as we could just get a dog. i had seen that breed when we were first married and fell in love with their pug-like faces and bat-shaped ears. however, their price is outrageous so that is why i held out for so long. then one day jason's boss was having work done on his house by a handyman who asked if he knew anyone who wanted what else? a french bulldog pup. he had a litter that was purebred but not papered because they were not expecting to have their dogs breed anymore, which meant the price was less than half. and of course since maddie had also been begging for a dog for the past 2 years i said we could go take a look. my big requirements were no barking and calmness {our last dog was 100 lbs. of adhd}. the lady said her dogs don't really bark at all and this particular puppy was pretty calm. she was right so far. she is fitting into our family just fine, loving to follow us around, yet content to just lay around and chew her toys, coming when we call her name, and letting the kids play/poke/carry her like kids do. so here we are off on another adventure...
