happy birthday "2" you!!

in the last 2 weeks we have had 2 birthdays in our family.  my 37th was exactly 1 week before reese's 2nd.  so it has been birthday central around here.  i had such a great time on my day.  in the week leading up to my birthday maddie could not contain her excitement.  she woke up each morning reminding me about it.  she wanted to take me out to a restaurant and she also planned to make a birthday breakfast for me with dad's help {pancakes with whipped cream & strawberries}.  one would have thought it was her birthday.  i got to have a night out with some friends & martinis and i received a beautiful necklace from my fabulous hubbie.

{i have been wanting a big necklace paired with a small one and when i saw this ensemble, i fell in love.  i know it should be my initials, however since i don't really have a middle name, i decided to put my kid's initials on each side of the "g".}

this last weekend we had a "small" family party for reese.  i let maddie pick out a few decorations and i made cupcakes.  i am so glad i did not plan a big event.  for those of you who know him well, he is not exactly a people person.  he only likes a handful of us and tolerates the rest.  so when about 20 people {all family} showed up he wasn't his happy normal self.  he did not want to be held by anyone except mom & dad, and he wanted nothing to do with opening gifts.  needless to say, i am happy our family could celebrate his milestone.  and we can't wait to see what's in store for his year ahead.  although, i wish my years could slow down a bit.

{check out this oh-so-cute clip-on tie i bought for his b*day.  he would not keep it on. oh well, a girl can dream:)}
{love his expression!  the candle fascinated him, although it gave grandma a heart attack sitting so close to him.}

{he wouldn't even warm up with his favorite people, so we had to stick him in the high chair just to get a picture with them.}

LOVE your new necklace! sooo mommy chic. i can see how grandma would be ever so worried about the candle, but he looks like he's in heaven. Happy b.day, you two!!
