at the patch

yesterday we visited the pumpkin patch at tanaka farms.  we had a great time.  well, maddie had a fabulous time, reese did not enjoy himself very much, and dad & i tried to make the best of it for both.  we were invited to tag along with some of maddie's neighborhood friends and that made it so much more fun for her.  she loved exploring the patch with the girls, checking out where pumpkins really come from.  she also took a wagon ride, got lost in the corn maze, and picked real vegetables right out of the ground.  reese was content to stay in his stroller as long as we were moving or there was food in front of him.  it could have been the heat, we were all dripping sweat in the 90 degree heat; or possibly the crowds and dirt; or maybe just his moodiness, but we picked out a baby pumpkin for him anyway.  i do love the environment there, though.  the feel of a real patch, not some roadside parking lot with 10 bounce houses.  all in all we had a nice time.

daddy got suckered into competing in the "pumpkin olympics".  it was actually pretty cute and i love him for getting into the spirit with the kids.
