may days

we slowed down a little bit in may.
{this is a boy who loves his dog,
and a dog who tolerates her boy.}

another round of sickness for both kids set in this month. he completely fell asleep on lola. unconditional love right there.

then it was on to teacher appreciation week. i love doing this for the teachers, maybe because i personally know how hard they work. each day of the week involved a different token of appreciation.
{teacher's favorite snack on tuesday.}

{school supplies on wednesday.}

{handwritten thank you note to the teacher from the student.}

{anything you would like to donate on friday.}

who doesn't love getting spoiled on mother's day? reese's class invited me to "muffins for moms". each child read a letter to his/her mom and served her muffins and juice. it was the sweetest gift.

on sunday i got to eat brunch with my family and then took time off from being a mom to go shopping with my best friend. such a relaxing day.

then i came upon this at night. love these kiddos!

this lil' man lost his first official tooth. the top tooth was pulled out when it died due to a fall he took when he was 2. he was so nervous about this loose tooth. told me for weeks he did not want the tooth fairy coming. he was scared to death of her. so he wouldn't even wiggle his tooth because he didn't want it to come out. well, it finally did. while i was brushing his teeth it plopped onto his tongue. and the tooth fairy did not visit because we didn't put the tooth under his pillow.

next on the list, photo shoot for maddie's upcoming dance recital, soccer playoff game, and celebrating mother's day with my mom all in one day. we rushed, we hurried, and we made it to all 3.
{3 ballet dances this year.
couldn't find a jazz or lyrical that fit just right.}

{they won this game after a penalty kick shoot out.
went back the next day and lost that game.
but had such a fun season with great coaches.}
{mom loved her gift...pictures of her kids and grandkids
(see below).}

{all the regular ladies plus a our cousin
manda visiting from illinois.}
{couldn't resist cuddling this little love bug.
he's getting to be so fun. lots of coos and laughs.}
one day reese asked, "mom, when can i play soccer?" we were both so surprised and happy to hear him say this. so we signed him up for a city soccer class to get him ready to be on a team. the first day did not go so well. he was super nervous and shed a few tears, but i pushed through and told him he would enjoy it if he just relaxes. he has such a hard time in new, unfamiliar situations. and of course the second day of practice he began to enjoy it. now to get him on a team next fall... stay tuned.

then the lil' man got to sing in his class play, "friendly neighborhood helpers." he was the dairy guy at the grocery store. j and i were nervous for him just knowing his personality, but he got up there a owned the stage. he sang loud and clear with a smile. such a proud parent moment. then he fell apart afterward when i wanted to congratulate him and take a few pics. he cried and didn't want us around. such an emotional struggle trying to figure out how to act in all of these different situations.
{he could recite almost the entire play at home
in the weeks leading up to it. he loves music so much.}
{a little nervous at the start.}

{like a boss.}

{all smiles at the end.}
the last week of may was the end of my school year. i had a great group of kinders this year and an amazing job share partner. i'm going to miss both. next year i'm going back as a full time teacher. sniff, sniff. i'm going to miss my days off with my own kids. as well as not being able to talk about my kinders with a partner. she is such a great person to bounce ideas off, share student stories with, and help deal with hard situations. stay tuned for that as well.
{after presenting fun awards to each student they walked
down the "red carpet" and became 1st graders.
then we
gave them beach balls to celebrate the fact that
we "
had a ball" in kindergarten this year.}
we ended may with another crossfit competition. don't hold your breath, but he says this is his last one. he is retiring ladies and gentelmen (that is until someone begs him to be their partner). in his words, he feels he is not as into it as all the young guys out there competing. he still eats donuts the morning of the event. gotta love this guy!

I'm enjoying the monthly blog post! so much to comment on. you're teacher gifts were Pinterest perfection. love all the pics and kids activities, but mother's day was the best part of may! xo
