fun february

in elementary school this time of year is a big deal for students and teachers alike. we celebrate the 100th day of school. for the kids its a party and fun activities. for the teachers it the significance that the year is more than half over! yahoo! this year i celebrated at school with my 24 kinders and then at home with my favorite lil' student. i love watching him work. he tries so hard and truly enjoys learning. he had a few fun activities to complete at home and i thought this was worth sharing. each student had to count out 100 things and bring them to class to share. jason thought that reese should bring "reese's pieces" candies. love it!

the next week we were off to our 2nd baby shower of the year. this time for jason's nephew, sean and his wife delia. she is another gorgeous mommy-to-be and having another boy. we are so excited for both sides of our families!!

well of course we had to decorate for the biggest love holiday...

and then create our valentines to hand out. i'm trying to enjoy every last moment of this fun holiday with my growing 10 year old, whose teacher made it a point to say that you are allowed to hand them out but you don't have to. thankfully she wanted to. but i know that in the next year or so it will no longer happen {sniff, sniff}. growing up is hard for moms.
{this is the 1st year he has been able to fill out is own name!}
{she wanted something to do with an owl.
so i found this valentine. and she wanted pixy stix as well.
 we came up with this.}
{he didn't really care. i didn't want to give candy.
 and since i had a choice we went with bubbles.}
{for my 24 other lil' valentines.}
and then the big day! we had our annual scavenger hunt and heart-shaped pizza.

the next day, the 15th of february, we were off to the beach. yep, that's right. it has been an unusually hot winter. i think i have turned the heat on 2 times this season and not been able to wear sweaters or tall boots but twice. it was 72 degrees at the beach this day and beautiful, but i would like a little bit more of a winter season.

lots of homework to be done by all lately, mom included.

by far the most exciting event this month was the birth of my new nephew. this is bronson xander armit. and he is just gorgeous!

{reese was scared to death of this new little being.
 he would only get this close and would not even touch him.}
{maddie on the other hand, couldn't get enough of him.
 she wanted to keep holding him as long as we would let her.}
{cousins on my side of the family, finally!!!}
{i stole this pic from my brother & sis-in-law because
 it was too stinkin' cute not to share with the world.}
the last week in february had us going to our 3rd shower of the year, but this time a wedding shower for jason's other nephew michael, who is marrying this lovely lady, jessica. can't wait! i love love!

and our sweet lola had a birthday on the 28th. she is now 4 years old. there just isn't a sweeter dog on the planet than her. we adore her and she puts up with a lot from us.

I think a monthly blog is a good idea. Of course I truly enjoy all of your blogs. It is such a good way to keep up with the kids. I'm with you that I'm already missing the little girl Maddie. Sniff sniff.....
