sweet sickness

so long since i blogged, almost forgot i write one.  been a slow and busy january.  sickness, getting back into school/work, dentist, flu shots, more sickness, starting our journey with God and church, selling girl scout cookies, trying to live up to my new year's resolution of enjoying every moment.  i did just that when reese recently got an ear infection. fever set in monday after school.  went to doc on tuesday fever continued to spike.

broke by wed morning when i had to go back to work.  all night "should i call in sick to be with him or not?" was the question.  finally decided that i might never get the chance to cuddle him and spend that one-on-one time with my 3-year old {cuz we all know boys don't love to cuddle and sit around with their mom} as he is growing at lightening speed. and i took advantage of my opportunity.  called in sick and hung with my man.  got to sit with him for 2 whole hours! doing nothing, watching tv.  then he threw up all over me.  all i could think was thank goodness i stayed home.  and then his fever came back and i was glad again that i stayed home.
{he wanted me to take a pic of him while he was sick.
in his words, "mommy, say cheese."}
these are the times i wish i was a stay at home mom, so i wouldn't have to battle with my conscience about doing the right thing.  because the other side of me, the rule-follower, hates calling in sick mainly because i don't want to lose time with my kindergartners, but also the hassle of getting sub plans prepared and hoping to get a sub {a decent body} in the classroom.

You are so right about the cuddling. So happy you got to do it. You are a great Mom. Glad he's better.

Poor guy! So true about being home full time. Missing work is a hassle, but having a sick kid is the worst.
