american girl doll adventure

does anything ever really go the way you imagine it in your head?  for me...no.  i had been planning to take maddie to the american girl doll store since last year.  since this doll and all of its accessories are special gifts she enjoys from her grandma schel, of course we wanted her to join us.  the car ride is about an hour with some traffic.  we got all dressed up to enjoy our special day, as well as have lunch at the american girl cafe.  


on the way there my sweet girl became car sick.  picture lovely car sickness all over the back seat of the car and her pretty dress, even soaked through to her underwear.  first we decided to stop at the nearest gas station.  i did a quick wipe down with a towel we keep in the car, because she has gotten car sick about five other times.  {we just can't figure out the rhyme or reason to this illness.  it has happened in both cars, different times of the day, after she has just eaten or when she's hungry, even while in a deep sleep.}  anyway, after seeing the look of the gas station in this shady part of los angeles, i got everyone back in the car and we went on the hunt for a better place to clean up.  right across from our destination was a k-mart.  we bought wipes and underwear.  we used the bathroom like a laundry mat and got her cleaned up.  


luckily we were only 15 minutes late as we finally sat down and had a beautiful lunch.  the food was yummy and super cute.  but the cutest part was that they seat the doll in her special chair and even come around and serve her a cup & saucer.  

as most people do, we decided to hit the restroom before starting our shopping adventure.  normally this is tmi, but i had to share that they thought of everything at this place.  as we walk into the the stalls maddie hands me her doll, little m is her name, and i jokingly ask where is the toilet for the doll.  well, no toilet but a holder for the doll in each stall.  this was too funny...

what made the wait to visit this store even more special is the fact that they have just come out with hearing aids for the dolls.  they already have eye glasses and even casts for broken appendages.  and what i couldn't believe is that they have dolls with no hair for kids with cancer who have lost their hair so they don't feel so alone.  part of the draw to these dolls is that you can get them to look like you and you can find almost any outfit to match your girl's interests.  grandma bought maddie a ballet outfit this time.  they have a doll hospital for the dolls who have possibly broken an arm off or been in some sort of scissor/marker accident.  you can even pay to get her hair done at the hair salon.  so they took little m in the back to attach hearing aids and while we were at it, we got her ears pierced just like maddie did this year.  how did i not think of this simple idea and become a millionaire?

aren't the hearing aids just too cute? and hot pink makes them so girly.  of course this is her new outfit.  they make the clothes look so stylish.  thanks for a great day grandma.  it turned out to be a fabulous end to the day.
