halloweekend

{halloweening around!}

this weekend was jam packed with activities.  we started off friday night with jason receiving the golden badge award.  we had a nice time at the ceremony and i am so proud of him and his team for receiving such a great honor.  each year, the foundation hosts an awards banquet to honor law enforcement and civilians for heroic acts of bravery and deeds that improve the safety and quality of life in california.

we spent saturday hosting a pumpkin carving party for our neighborhood.  we had about 10 kids total and they all had a super time.  maddie was especially proud to have drawn and carved the pumpkin all by herself this year.  reese decided just to run free in the street.  i made cute little pumpkin cupcakes and we enjoyed spending time with our friends.

of course sunday was the big night.  early on in october, i had asked maddie if she would like to dress up in something that would match reese and she loved the idea.  ever since i saw a "lilo and stitch" boy and girl as a coordinating costume {before i had kids} i have always wanted to try it.  i'm so happy maddie loves her baby brother that much, and is so flexible with something like this.  our original plan of a police girl and baby jailbird did not work out, so they became a cheerleader and football player {for san diego chargers, of course}.  i got into the family action by dressing up as a referee {being a kindergarten teacher, i kinda had to dress up this year}.

{getting into character!}
