a LOVEly week

maddie had the best valentine's day yet!  it began with us making our own valentine treats.  i was so glad i stumbled upon this blog who sent a download for our valentine.  i had so much more fun putting these together this year, as opposed to last year's dora the explorer valentines.  i also thought her teacher was brilliant to make her homework assignment writing her name on all of the valentine cards.  maddie was cracking up that that was actual homework.  she also had a blast at her v-day party and being able to pass out all her treats to everyone's bag. {oh, homework earlier in the week was to decorate a large grocery bag, we had a fun homework week.}

as far as the actual sunday valentine's day goes, j and i don't really celebrate it anymore.  after 16 years together, and 4 pairs of heart boxers,  it really just became a forced holiday.  so now i just have fun with it for the kids.  i put together a scavenger hunt for maddie.  she loved reading the clues find out where her treats were hidden. we had heart shaped pancakes for breakfast and heart shaped pb & j sandwiches for lunch. 

but my most proud moment came with dinner.  for those of you who know me, i am no cook.  in fact, i am actually intimidated by cooking.  so when i found this recipe that looked doable i decided to try it.  it only took about half an hour and i still can't believe i did it.  i was beaming that i made filet mignon, sauteed shrimp, and roasted potatoes.  so it came out beautifully and i had to take a picture.  but the best part was how awesome it tasted.  j said it was like eating at a restaurant, better than any meal he has had in a long time.  WOO HOO!!!
